# The green-bezel Rolex GMT-Master II

When Rolex released the 126720VTNR at Watches & Wonders 2022, the reaction was immediate. A left-handed GMT-Master II — crown on the left, date window at nine o'clock — with a black and green Cerachrom bezel. Collectors have variously nicknamed it the "Sprite", the "Zombie", and (less kindly) the "Starbucks". Whatever you call it, it is the most distinctive GMT Rolex has made in a decade.

## Why left-handed matters

The destro layout — crown on the left, date at nine — is Rolex's first left-handed production GMT. Practically, it means the crown does not dig into the back of your hand if you wear the watch on your right wrist (as left-handers do), and the date sits where a left-handed wearer naturally glances. On a right wrist it looks unusual. On a left wrist it looks unusual in a different way. Either way, it is the design decision that gives the reference its character.

The Sprite/Zombie has settled from its 2022 speculation peak but still trades well above retail:

Anything earlier is not this reference. 4. **Serial** — 12-digit random, engraved between the lugs at six o'clock.
